“Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away” – Exhibition Opens in Boston

The “Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away” exhibition, which opened in Boston last week, serves as a poignant reminder of one of the darkest chapters in human history.

For the first time, this touring exhibition brings together over 700 original objects from Auschwitz, providing a moving and accurate tour of the camp. The exhibition serves as a stark reminder of the atrocities committed not long ago and not far away, reinforcing the importance of remembering and learning from history. It’s a significant effort to educate people about the horrors of the Holocaust and the importance of standing against such atrocities in the future.

Having been displayed in Spain, Sweden, and several U.S. cities, the exhibition sold almost 50,000 tickets in Boston prior to its opening.

The exhibition, which includes victims from various groups persecuted by the Nazis—such as Poles, Roma, and Sinti people, Soviet prisoners of war, the disabled, marginal social groups, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and homosexuals—offers a comprehensive view of the Holocaust.

The exhibition will be open until September 2. It has been recognized for its unique contribution to Holocaust education, winning the Grand Prix and the category for “Education, Training, Awareness” at the 2020 European Heritage Awards. Read more about this important exhibition here.

Our books The Auschwitz Volunteer: Beyond Bravery and Fighting Auschwitz: The Resistance Movement in the Concentration Camp give a close-up view of Auschwitz and the brave men and women who fought to resist the evil of the German concentration camp.
