In addition, a stack of Advance Review Copies of Aquila Polonica’s March 2016 release, Echoes of Tattered Tongues: Memory Unfolded, by John Guzlowski, was given away gratis to interested attendees.
Aquila Polonica president Terry Tegnazian and creative director Ewa Wojciak attended from Los Angeles, and were joined by translator Jarek Garlinski and author John Guzlowski. One of the high points of this year’s convention was the ceremony on Friday, November 20th, at which the three winners of the 2015 Aquila Polonica Prize were announced.2015 Aquila Polonica Prize — L-R: Polish Studies Association president Brian Porter-Szucs, winner Agnieszka Pasieka, winner Piotr Kosicki, Aquila Polonica president Terry Tegnazian. (The third winner, Lisa Jakelski, was not present to accept her award.)
During the ASEEES convention, Jarek Garlinski presented a paper entitled “The British and the 1944 Warsaw Uprising” as part of the panel titled “Dissidence, Disability, and Rebellion: Twentieth Century Poland.”

It was great to see old acquaintances and meet new ones, both attendees and exhibitors.Jarek Garlinski with exhibitors from one of the other booths, who have become friends over past ASEEES conventions.
We also had time to take in some of the sights, and enjoyed a couple of highly recommended restaurants offering super-fresh local fare (Barbuzzo and White Dog Cafe), which are among those making “Philly” one of the hot new food scenes in the U.S.
